Happy Friday

Thank you all very much for the contributions to the Sacks for Santa and the lunches for the poor students. The response was overwhelming.
We are beginning the next lesson in Social studies with the Civil War. This series moves very fast and just touches on the major historical events. I am trying to finish it before the holiday and give a test, but that might not happen. We are working on a Christmas Around the World project which we will finish up this week.
In math, we are working on longer multiplication problems and word problems. Please practice the basic facts.
Have a nice weekend.

Good Morning,
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. We are all very blessed and as I told the kids, I am very thankful for all of them. They all shared their stories of Thanksgiving and it seems like everyone had a wonderful holiday.
Next week on Dec. 9th I have scheduled a social Studies test on Unit I lesson 4, and there will be a Math test on chapter 4 on Wed. I have been introducing some simple long division problems during class and also some multipliciation problems with two digit times two digit. Some of the children are really amazing themselves at how quick they are catching on. Maybe you could practice at home.
Remember tomorrow is a day off. We have an institute day.
Have a great weekend.

Happy Friday,

In case you haven't noticed, the blogs have been down due to computer problems, so I apologize for an inconvenience this might have caused. Today report cards are going home and I am very proud of all the hard work the students have done. This is a good time to focus on the great strides they have made since the beginning of the year. If you have any questions regarding the grades, please let me know. Parent conference slips are going home, if there is a problem with your scheduled time, let me know and we can reschedule.
Today is the chapter three math test. We begin multiplication and division next week. Please continue daily practice of math facts. On Wed. Nov. 17th, I am giving the Unit 1, lesson 4 test.
If a student is nedding any extra help. I am free before and after schhol. Also, math clinic begins on Dec. 4th.
Have a great weekend.

Good Morning,
I am just getting a head start on next week. In Social Studies, we are touching on alot of different material. We are studying the Revolutionary War, the election, explorers, and Veteran's Day interviews. Then interview questions are being sent home today, and they are due on Tuesday. If anyone has someone they know who would want to come in for a Vereran's Day talk, please let me know.

We are quickly reviewing addition and subtraction in math and there will be a test on chapter 3 on Friday Nov. 7th. Please practice all four basic operations. There are way to many students who are using their fingers to do the basic facts. The facts should have been mastered before fourth grade. We use flash cards, playing cards, dice, dominoes, and other manipulatives here to practice.

Enjoy the rest of the day, and have a beautiful weekend.

Good Morning,
The Social Studies test is scheduled for Wednesdy and it covers pgs. 16-23 in the hard cover. The study guide went home Friday and we reviewed today. Last week, there were a number of review worksheets that went home for homework. Many of the students did quite well on them.
We are breezing through chapter three in math, a review of basic addition, subtraction, rounding and estimating, word and money problems. I will give a test on Friday, Nov.7th. For those of you who did not see the ETC form, I am offering the 4th grade math clinic starting next Tuesday.

Our class will celebrate Halloween on Friday afternoon. There are 25 students in our homeroom if you would like to send treats.

Have a good week.

Hello,
There are a few reminders about this week. First, if you have not handed in the permission slip and money for Thursday's field trip, please do so. Thank you to all that volunteered. I sent back the note to those who were picked. The students should be in their gym uniform and SJF sweatshirt if they have one. Please send a bag lunch and no glass bottles. Progress reports will be going home tomorrow so please sign the attached sheet and return it on Thursday. Thisut just lets me know that you received the reports. Also remember that Friday and Monday are days off for the students. The teachers have a meeting on Friday.
I feel that some of the students are not getting their homework assignments in. Please ask them about this.It takes time away from teaching to have to stop and fill out the homework slips.
Please keep reviewing the basic facts.
And remeber all CUBS and SOX fans, there is always next year.
Have a great week and weekend.

Hello,

We are finishing up our lesson on Native Americans this week. We have read about them, taken notes and outlined, we are currently writing a paper on them, we have gone to the media lab and watched videos, and we have drawn pictures, and taken the test. I think the students have done a great job. In math, we are rounding and comparing large numbers, as well as, working on word problems. All operations are touched on weekly through a daily math problem. Please keep reviewing the basic facts. It is necessary that they are mastered.
Thankyou,
Mrs. Sullivan
